Spiderman Cake
Liam loves Spiderman!
Sally, Liam's mom, told me that Liam was very disappointed when she brought a car cake to his birthday celebration at the daycare.  He told his Dad that he wants a spiderman cake and not a car cake.

So when I arrived at the party with his cake, Liam was very ecstatic. He was so happy to see that finally his wish to have a spiderman cake came true.
He actually does not want anyone to eat the cake/cupcakes. Very funny kid.

Cupcake Toppers:
The cupcake toppers were made two weeks in advance.
I worked on them while watching TV about 1-2 hours per day, not everyday though.
So I made three dozen circles using a circle cutter and I let them dry for a day.
The next night using a food writer pen, I painted the cobwebs.
The same with the spiderman heads, I made three dozen heads using fondant with tylose powder.
To make the heads, get about a 1-1/2 inch ball of fondant, roll it with your palm to form the head shape.
Let it dry for about a day.
The next night, I painted the cobwebs.
For the spiderman's eyes, cut out the black and white using the smallest petal cutter.
For the spiders, i made two small balls flatten them to make the head and body.
Roll thin fondant to make the legs.

Spiderman Figure
I really wanted this figure to look close to how spiderman looks.
I started with the legs and the waist using blue sugarpaste and the red for the chest/arms and boots.
Here are the stages:
Here is the finished Spiderman Figure. I was pretty satisfied of the result. What do you think?

The Cake
I baked four 9 x 9 inch cake and one 9 x 13 inch cake Thursday night and double wrapped the cakes in plastic wrap and placed them in the refrigerator.

Friday night, I was mutli-tasking.
I was assembling the cakes while baking three dozen cupcakes (chocolate and vanilla cupcakes)

I crumbcoated the cakes with Italian Meringue Buttercream and Chocolate Ganache.
I filled each layer with Cream Cheese buttercream.
I was so engrossed that I did not noticed the time. Finished decorating the cake around 3AM.
Saturday morning, I put the finishing touches (such as stars, cobwebs, blinking lights) on the cake.
I also piped each cupcakes with blue strawberry flavored IMBC frosting and placed the toppers.
All my hardwork paid off upon seeing Liam's reaction.
Love it!

Veronika turns 10 and her wonderful mom, Imelda, asked me to make cupcakes and a   small cake. Veronika wants a fairy theme and likes blue, pink and purple, with flowers, butterflies and fairies.

To tell you frankly, I got carried away again and made a more elaborate design.

The Cupcake Toppers::
I made three dozen cupcake fairy toppers in pink, blue and purple. The cupcake toppers were from Rouvelee's Creations, another awesome cake decorator.

Cake Toppers:
I also made three fairy cake toppers (my own design) using fondant and gumpaste. I am so happy of these figures, they came out really nice.

The Fairy Cake Cupcake Tower
with the blue cupcake arrangement on the side due to the lack of cupcake stand.

Imelda bought some chinese takeout boxes for each of Veronika's quest to bring home one cupcake of their choice. Great idea instead of preparing separate party loot bags.
