Turning 60 is quite a milestone and really deserves to be celebrated with a BIG bang. There are numerous ways in which you can celebrate a 60th birthday. How about throwing a surprise party and ordering a Cruise Ship Cake for a young-at-heart 60 year old? The cake is a two tiered cake, the bottom layer is an 8 x 22 in. two layer cake and the top tier is a 7 x 13 in. two layer cake. The decorations were made of fondant with tylose powder and rice krispy squares. I was really satisfied at the result of this cake project considering that I did not even know where to start two weeks ago. Here's a message I got from Ka Mila: "Hi Luisa! You made a perfect kind of Criuse Ship cake! Lots of our guest admired it, and were asking who made it. I was very proud telling them "a Filipina, Luisa from Fred." My husband was very happy of his cake! Perfect craftmanship! Thanks a lot Luisa, you made my husband's celebration colorful!" HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY KA ERNIE! Thanks as well Ate Mila for trusting me on making Ka Ernie's Birthday cake! Here are more pictures of the cake. Enjoy!

Cute, classy, elegant are words to describe my latest cake design. I really LOVE how this cake turned out. It is nice to have a lot of time to prepare for a cake project. I need at least two to three or more weeks notice to prepare all the necessary details. Look at the result! I made the two minnie mouse figurines, the cake board, the name tag and the minnie mouse sillhouette decor two weeks in advance. All the figures were made using fondant with tylose powder. I was supposed to make the tupsy turvy design for this cake, but changed my mind and I opted for my second choice, the gift box design. Which I think is much fitting for a beautiful little girl. I airbrushed the whole cake with pearl sheen color for the glossy effect. This cake was requested by a friend, Anne Marey for her niece, Julia Mae, turning one (1) on May 15, 2011 . She's a lucky Girl!!! Her loving Aunt Anne Marey travelled 173 miles/278 kms to get this cake. Aunt Anne wants to surprise her sister, Carece and her baby. Isn't she a great sister and aunt! Thanks Anne for trusting me with your beautiful niece 1st birthday cake! HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY JULIA MAE! Here are pictures of the birthday girl with her lovely parents. This cake is up for the Sweet of the Week at Sweetopia's website. Please go to www.sweetopia.net and vote for my Minnie Mouse Cake. Enjoy! The Asian Heritage Scoiety of New Brunswick asked me to make a cake for the Asian Heritage Month Celebration Opening ceremony at the Centennial Building in Fredericton.
The Guests of Honour: The Hon. Preeti Saran, Consul General of India, The Hon. Martine Coulombe. Minister of Post-Secondary Education. His Worship Brad Woodside, Mayor of Fredericton and other government officials. The theme of this year's celebration is “Celebrating Canadians of South Asian Origin. "The designation “South Asian” refers to those who trace their heritage to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Nepal, and Bhutan." Please visit the society's wesbite, AHS NB Website, to know more about the festivities. The design I have chosen for this cake is to have the different flags stitched together. The challenge I had in making this cake is that all the decorations cannot be done ahead of time. I scored the edges of the flags to get the look of stitching. I spent at least 8 hours (not including baking) on this cake. Hope you like it! Thanks for viewing! HAPPY AHM CELEBRATION! I was a little hesitant when Sam and Marisel asked me to make a Dinosaur Train cake for their son's, Biboy, 4th birthday. I have not done a dinosaur train topper and even a train cake. I am not sure if I can do it. I always feel this way whenever i am asked to do a cake. But I accepted the challenge. Three weeks ago, I made five out of the six main characters of the show Dinosaur Train, Buddy, an adorable a preschool age Tyrannosaurus Rex, Tiny, Shiny, Don and Mrs. Pteranodon. Buddy is Biboy's favorite character in the show. I also prepared the cake board and some details weeks before. If you want more information about the show, go to PBS. The cakes were prepared on a Friday night. I filled, carved and crumbcoated the cake on a Saturday. I coated the cake with chocolate ganache and swiss italian meringue buttercream. Too many details on this cake and it took the whole day for me to finished the whole train. Really very happy with the result and really glad that the birthday boy liked it. Thank you Marisel and Sam for trusting me! HAPPY 4th BIRTHDAY BIBOY! Here are more pictures of the cake for your viewing. Hope you enjoy!
