My inspiration is from Viktor and Rolf's Spring/Summer 2015 Collection-Van Gogh Girls. The collection characterized lively energy, playful, excitement and rustic. I love the white and black outline with a pop of red. The design is simple yet elegant.
“Being creative does not mean you have to ‘be an artist.’ Being creative is about expressing yourself, and the more we express ourselves, the more good we create in the world.” - Mason Miller

Requested by a friend hosting a bridal shower for her sister.
All decorations are made of gumpaste.
Hand painted by yours truly.
Two weeks ago, I got a request from my daughter's best friend, Lauren.
She wanted a Hunger Games themed cake for her birthday.
I was very impressed by the detailed information she gave me.
Look at the DRAFT she provided.
(see image below).
Very detailed, isn't it?
That suggestion on what to use to mimic sand --
"You should use brown sugar" and "sprinkle sugar to look like snow" -- BRILLIANT! --
and the part to use google to search for images. Smart kid!
Although, I kind of suggested if we can make the cake a little simpler.
I asked her -- "how many guest is she planning to invite?"
She said six (6) kids.
I said, a 3- tiered cake will be a lot to feed 6 kids!
And she agreed!
However, later on I decided to stick to her design but modified some of the details.
I wanted to share this conversation with Lauren, as it's too cute not to share--
I asked her -- how much are you paying me for your cake?
She said "$40 is all I have, will that be enough? Too cute.
Since I was very impressed by her creativity, artistic talent and she made me laugh ---
this will be my birthday gift to her.
HAPPY 11th BIRTHDAY LAUREN!
A friend's request to make a cake for her daughter's wedding.
ORANGE AND PINK WEDDING CAKE
This is the second cake I made this week.
The mother of the bride provided me with the color palette and
a wedding cake photo in gold and white with roses.
I created my version by using orange sprinkles and making peonies and calla lilies.
I originally planned on making the sequins out of gelatin
but just didn't have the time to do it.
The second option,
I tried the sprinkles in multi colors but airbrushing them orange does not work.
This method will work if painting the sprinkles in gold though.
The third option,
is to use orange sprinkles (Jimmies).
After putting the sprinkles on the cake, I airbrushed the cake with
electric orange food color to deepen the color.
This is my very first time to assemble a wedding cake on site.
This is a 12, 10, 8 and 6 inches cake.
Very thankful to my friend Susan for assisting and driving to the venue.
I wouldn't have done it without her.
Here's a photo of the cake at the venue.
Beautiful colour combo, which I didn't even think will work
